JOB TITLE: Part-Time Hourly Homebound Teacher
REPORTS TO: Director of Opportunity & Achievement
OVERVIEW:
This employee is responsible for organizing and implementing an instructional program to meet the individual needs of students who are unable to attend school for medical reasons. This is a part-time, hourly position that is based on student need. Typically, this position requires 4-20 hours per week, depending on student case-load.
Pay Rate: $51.99 per hour. Includes prep/planning and instruction.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate.
- Demonstrates knowledge of related subject matter, instructional skills, and resource materials.
- Utilizes a variety of effective instructional and management techniques.
- Ability to develop and maintain cooperative and effective professional relationships with teachers, administrators, parents, students.
- Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) with parents and school personnel at all levels.
- Must be willing to travel to a student’s home and/or hospital to provide instruction.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Considers the individual learning needs and abilities of students, as well as school and district learning goals, in preparation and utilization of lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessment documents.
- Assesses and implements student support based off of an Individualized Education Program (IEP), if applicable.
- Uses available technology or instructional media to enhance the students’ learning experiences
- Establishes positive and appropriate relationships with students and maintains open lines of communication with students and parents concerning academic and behavioral progress
- Works with parents, school, and district personnel representatives to provide an appropriate education for each student
- Provides a positive and safe environment that is conducive to learning
- Takes an active role in establishing and supporting school goals and resolving school concerns
- Communicates an expectation of success for all students
- Effectively records and communicates student attendance to district office
PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS:
- Adheres to established federal and state laws, board policies and regulations, and district procedures; supports the mission statement of the district and school.
- Adheres to the Statement of Awareness/Understanding adopted by the MUSD Governing Board, and complies with the Meet and Confer Agreement
- Accepts supervision and direction of the site administrator
- Appropriately communicates and interacts with other staff in academic planning and school committee work
- Attends and participates in staff meetings and extra-curricular/school-related activities and committees
- Demonstrates a commitment to continuous professional growth
- Maintains a professional appearance and demonstrates behavior that is conscientious and responsible

- Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the site administrator
