CHILD NUTRITION ASSISTANT - Food Services/Cafeteria- Part Time

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

Our positions are part-time, non-benefited cafetería positions. The current starting hourly rate is $16.26

APPROXIMATELY 3 - 5.75 HPD

Positions are Monday - Friday

JOB SUMMARY:

Perform a variety of duties related to the day-to-day preparation and delivery of school food service to students and adults.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

1. Possess or ability to obtain a Maricopa County Environmental Services Food Service Worker card within 30 days from hire.
2. Have the ability to perform vigorous physical work and to lift up to 50 lbs.
3. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, school staff and students.
4. Ability to be flexible. 

Desirable:

1. Have experience in institutional, restaurant or school kitchen environment.
2. Have some knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices.
3. Have some knowledge of food borne diseases.
4. Ability to learn and understand the regulatory requirements of the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

This position may change or evolve in the future and is not limited to the functions listed. Excellent employee attendance is critical to perform the essential functions.

1. Be involved in the preparation and serving of food daily in the cafeteria, to include outside serving carts.
2. Operate various types of commercial kitchen equipment such as mixers, slicers, choppers, steam tables, ovens, etc. as needed.
3. Wash dishes, pots and pans, equipment, kitchen utensils, and work area cleanup.
4. Set-up and cleanup food serving lines, food bars, etc.
5. Excellent customer service.
6. Conform to District, Food and Nutrition and Health Department policies.

Elementary POS operators and Secondary positions: In addition to above functions:

Handle money for purchase of food and beverage service and operate a register or computerized point of sale, to include associated paperwork. 

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:

1. May transport food to another location and organize food distribution.
2. May supervise employees.
3. Other duties as assigned.

ALL APPLICANTS PLEASE NOTE:  If offered a position with Food and Nutrition, the offer is conditional on the applicant being required to pass a timed agility test.  This test includes basic mobility; bending, reaching arms overhead and out, rotation, squatting and kneeling, as well as lifting and carrying a 10lb weighted crate, pushing a cart with a 20lb weighted crate and lifting a 47lb weighted crate. Exact details of the test will be explained at the time of testing.
