Base Rate:

$22.00

Performance Pay:

Available annually

New hire experience:

1% of the base hourly rate granted for each year of verified like experience (within ten years) beyond the requirement, up to a ten-year maximum

New hire education:

1% of the base hourly rate awarded for an AA or higher degree if not required for the position

Class/Calendar:

B23, 12 months

Hours:

Full-time (40 hours per week)

FSLA:

Non-Exempt

OVERVIEW:

To safely complete construction projects and within established time schedule; to ensure the efficient and safe utilization of space; to produce required walkways, forms, floors, etc; to ensure adequate materials are available to complete assignments in a timely manner.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School education or equivalent
  • Valid, or ability to obtain within 90 days, Arizona CDL - Class A with Tanker Endorsement
  • Ability to apply pertinent codes, policies, regulations/laws
  • Ability to effectively communicate with persons of varied cultural and educational backgrounds
  • Ability to operate equipment used in trade; ability to plan and manage projects; and ability to safely lift 90lb cement bags
  • Ability to use algebra and/or geometry; interpret written procedures and write routine documents; and to perform standard clerical procedures
  • Ability to analyze and to issue plans of action and to reach solutions
  • Ability to adhere to safety practices, attention to detail, meet deadlines and schedules while working with time constraints
  • Ability and willingness to flex working hours and days when needed

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Repair concrete, asphalt, block, stucco, tile and all-weather surfaces to maintain facilities in a safe and attractive environment
  • Install concrete, block and stucco surfaces and structures to complete projects safely and within established time frames
  • Prepare sites for installation and for use after installation by means of trenching, back filling and finish grading to ensure completion in a timely and attractive manner
  • Transport various items including water, sand, aggregates, equipment, supplies and debris to and from job sites to complete projects in a timely manner and to ensure public safety
  • Prepare various document (i.e. work orders, cost estimates, plans, etc) to provide information and to document work activities
  • Flex working hours and days when needed
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned, to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit
  • Regular and on-time attendance required

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

  • Operate dump truck, water truck, mixer truck, and landscape/backhoe tractors
  • Assist other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities

SUPERVISION

Grounds Foreman Structure

 

Prior to employment or during the first 3 months of new hire probationary period, drug and alcohol testing shall be required of all new contract employees who work in Transportation.  Any applicants having a confirmed positive test shall not be eligible for employment.
