Base Rate:

$20.11

Performance Pay:

Available annually

New hire experience:

1% of the base hourly rate granted for each year of verified like experience (within ten years) beyond the requirement, up to a five-year maximum

New hire education:

1% of the base hourly rate awarded for an AA or higher degree if not required for the position

Class/Calendar:

B22, 12 months

Hours:

Full-time (40 hours per week)

FSLA:

Non-Exempt

OVERVIEW:

The special education technician completes essential tasks for the department including the coordination of certificated and classified staffing, completion of federal and state program reports and projects, and maintenance of department budgets.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • High School education or equivalent required
  • Three to five years successful secretarial experience
  • Moderate proficiency in typing, with accuracy; excellent test battery
  • Computer proficiency to include use of basic software applications, including Word, Excel, Google Drives/DOCS and Synergy
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) and to establish and to maintain effective working relationships with district personnel of all levels
  • Ability to organize, to prioritize and to meet deadlines with accurate attention to detail while working with frequent interruptions and with minimum supervision
  • Ability to assume responsibility, exercise good judgment and maintain confidentiality
  • Public school, grant or budget management, and iVisions experience preferred

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare and submit grant revisions, track funding accounts, maintain and shift budget funds
  • Maintain records for special education grants; prepare applications and completion reports
  • Procure grant-funded supplies and materials; monitor grant expenditures in compliance with district, state and/or federal guidelines
  • Submit electronic Personnel Action Requests (ePARs) for district-based certified and classified special education personnel
  • Track special education personnel allocations and vacancies for budget purposes
  • Coordinate special education personnel additional summer hours and new year transitions
  • Collect data and prepare reports for the ADE annual report, special education student counts, and post-school outcomes
  • Distribute time and effort logs from Federal and State Grants to appropriate sites
  • Prepare student-teacher count to report to ADE
  • Maintain table of organization for certificated special education staff
  • Provide reports of student and teacher data for special projects
  • Assist in monitoring and auditing as needed by Federal and State Grants
  • Regular and on-time attendance required
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned, to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit

Clerical test administered on line:  Once you submit your application, a link to our on-line test will be emailed to you. Testing takes approximately 35 minutes. (Data Entry test -10 minutes)

 

Clerical Test required for this position: Application is considered incomplete and will not be eligible for consideration if clerical test results are not on file with Human Resources by closing date.
