Candidates must complete an on-line application which requires a valid IVP Arizona fingerprint clearance card, Coach Referral Form and the required NFHS Certificates.

 

OBJECTIVE:

Position is responsible for assisting music directors in teaching or accompanying their ensembles.  Stipend covers activities that are held outside of the school day.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current IVP Fingerprint Card
  • Demonstrates knowledge of related subject matter, instructional skills, and resource materials.
  • Utilizes a variety of effective instructional and management techniques.
  • Ability to develop and maintain cooperative and effective professional relationships with teachers, administrators, parents, students
  • Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) with parents and school personnel at all levels

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 
These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.

 

Music Coaches: (includes marching band and school musical)

  • Works with music directors in planning activities for rehearsal
  • Coaches and instructs students, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment and techniques of the activity
  • Observes students, during competition and rehearsal to determine the needs for individual or group improvement
  • Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior and provides proper supervision of students
  • Follows established procedures in the event of a student injury
  • Follows state, regional and district regulations governing the music program
  • Models sportsmanlike behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards musicians, adjudicators and spectators
  • Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities
  • Other duties as assigned

Accompanists:

  • Provide piano accompaniment for individuals/ensembles of varying ability in rehearsal and performance.
  • Take direction from music directors as to music interpretation, tempo, and dynamics.
  • Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 EXPERIENCE:

  • Prior experience in appropriate area is required

LICENSING REQUIREMENTS:

  • NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Certificate
